Shield, wood, ovate shield decorated with red, yellow, black and white ochre. Attributed to Girramay people. Made by Prince Davey, who had later been relocated to Palm Island (Barnard: 2012). Accompanied by long bagur, hardwood swords, these begon, decorated shields distinguished North East Queensland groups from all other Aboriginal groups, and were used in conflict and ceremony up until 1940s.
