Museum: Queensland Museum

Date Acquired: 1916

Collector: Joseph Campbell (1856-1933)

Date Collected: 1914-1916

Where from: Stone River Station, Ingham

Description: Shield painted with ochre. This shield includes areas coloured with Ricketts blue and, thus, were clearly made in the post-contact period.  It could be considered as a Warrgamay shield as it was collected at Stone River Station (west of Ingham), but the banded design is typical of those produced by Jirrbal people in Tully region.

Similar to the shield collected from Aloomba 22096 with Ricketts Blue that is held in the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum collection (Barnard 2013).
