Description: L840 x W250mm (Boss: L130 x W70mm)

Curved shield with handle carved from the solid. The front is painted in a striped design in faded red, yellow and white pigment with black outlines. There is a central raised ‘boss’. The reverse is coloured red. Donated by collector’s sister, Florence Walker – see the doc 907.

Painted Shield, red ochre painted on underside, with a boss protruding at centre front to protect the hand (Henry 2012).
