Red, black and white natural pigments with red ochre on back of shield.

The design on this shield is consistent with the ‘Hand held fish net’ design on Yidinji shields held in the Queensland Museum collection QE1142, and a contemporary version made by Michael Boiyool Anning (1955-) in 2011 registered as QE40655 (Barnard 2013). Walter Roth sold his collection of nearly 2000 North Queensland artefacts to the Australian Museum in 1905 for £450 (Barnard 2014).
