Description: L515 x W209 x D77mm

Elliptical shield with carved out grip, light soft wood, no decoration, convex both back & front; Thickness at grip 77mm. Donated by Isabella Christina (Montagu) Burrows.

According to artist Danie Mellor it is from Tully-Ingham area, most likely tourist shield possibly ‘Girramay’ people, but Trish Barnard advises that this type of shield is typical of those made by groups around Townsville and undecorated (Henry 2013).
